About our Parish Church
The Greek Community of Canberra is extremely proud of its rich faith and cultural contributions it has given to the wider Canberra community.
The first Greek immigrants to arrive in Australia was in 1829. It was not long after in the early 1860's that Greeks settled in the surrounding area of what would soon become the nations capital Canberra.
With a steady migration and immigration into Canberra over the next century by the 1960's there was an overwhelming need for Canberra's Greek Community to have a consecrated church.
Our church was proudly bestowed the honor and consecrated on 30 October 1968 and was named after St Nicholas of Myra.
It remains even up to today one of the most important places for Canberra's Greek diaspora, hosting important events and sacraments such as Holy Week and making history with the Ecumenical Service to mark the commencement of the Australian Parliament in February 2022.
